Radcliffe's Rangers

Welcome to Radcliffe’s Rangers Class!

We are a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class which is filled with amazing personalities, talents, skills and ideas! We work as a class team to build on our prior knowledge and explore and develop this across the KS1 Curriculum.

We always remember to use our Resilience Rucksack skills in everything we do, giving a helping hand when our friends need one and always trying our best! We are a busy, happy classroom filled with Music, a little bit of silliness and smiles!

Our days are very busy! Our children work in focused Year 1 and Year 2 groups for their daily English, Phonics and Mathematics sessions, and in the afternoon we return together to explore exciting new topics in our foundation subject sessions.  We really enjoy our weekly PE sessions and the different sports we develop our skills in with 54 Degrees sports coaching.

In KS1 we work on support the children in building on their knowledge and developing the skills and strategies they need to work independently and show their learning and understanding in all subject areas. We encourage the children to share their own knowledge, ideas and opinions, and ask lots of questions!

We use KAGAN approaches to support the children’s’ learning, as well as developing communication and teamwork skills, and encourage the importance of experiencing and exploring the wider world through Forest School Visits and Trips within the local area.

Radcliffe is our class mascot. He is a brave adventurer with lots of other animal friends who are here to support our class in all areas of their learning. He is often the inspiration for many challenges and often needs help with his spelling, maths skills or science challenges and really appreciates the support of his Rangers to fix his work!

In all our lessons we work towards becoming ‘Masters’ in the different topics, being able to show our understanding and knowledge of a skill or concept correctly and apply it to our independent work. We also provide opportunities to consolidate and extend the children’s learning by using their ‘Mastery’ knowledge to complete the challenges provided in our class ‘Mastery’ Areas which are linked to the children’s current learning.

We have a class filled with talents and encourage the children to share these whenever possible. We love celebrating class Birthdays, sharing news from home and finding out what exciting adventures Radcliffe has been on during his weekend visits
