Radcliffe's Rangers

Mrs Henderson and Mrs Dixon would like to welcome you to Radcliffe's Rangers.


We currently teach a Year 2 class of  25 children.


Radcliffe's Rangers is based in a large classroom with lots of areas of continuous provision which we call Mastery Areas. Such as  'Come and Make', 'Come and Paint', Construction, 'Topic Area', 'Maths Area' and 'English Area' . We use these areas to consolidate the children's learning  and often set Mastery Challenges for them. 


 In Radcliffe's Ranger's Class the children use a multi-sensory approach to learning their spellings. They call this 'Busy Spellings' and during the week the children practise their own set of target spellings in the Mastery Areas in the classroom. This hands on approach makes them remember the words they need to learn to spell and also makes it fun!


Our children love learning and enjoy accessing their busy classroom environment. Their days are filled with English,Phonics and Maths sessions as well as topic and art  based activities. For example they designed and made bird feeders to put in our Jungle Garden to feed the birds over Winter.  In addition they enjoy P.E, music and creative arts. In P.E we enjoy our weekly visits from the sports coaches from '54 Degree Sports' learning lots of essential skills. We also like to go on trips and we also enjoy using our outside areas to help us to learn. This term we have been learning about minibeasts and micro habitats. 

 Radcliffe is our class mascot. He is a brave adventurer and is often the inspiration for many of our Mastery challenges. For example in the Autumn term the children had to use their writing skills to write spooky stories for him. The children get to take him home at the end of the week as a reward for demonstrating good writing skills.




We have a plasma screen and the use of 3 laptops which we all love using on a daily basis to support our learning. We also have a set of tablets that we access to enhance our learning.
