Welcome to our class page! We are a mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class and our mascot is a space monkey called Comet. He lives in our classroom with his friends Neptune, Mars, Venus and Jupiter. They are always ready to give us a helping hand when things are tricky! We love taking Comet home at the weekends to explore, and we get so excited to share what we have been doing with our friends on Monday morning!
In Comet’s Crew we learn best when activities are real, relevant and fun! We enjoy hands-on, active experiences and our teachers know that learning in this way through play is exciting and engaging. Along with our computers and interactive plasma, we are lucky to have access to different areas to help us practise and 'show off' our knowledge, skills and understanding in a fun and practical way.
Our classroom is a happy, vibrant place to learn where you can always rely on your friends to help out or give you a pat on the back! We have lots of fun together and our teachers are proud of the care and kindness we show to each other and everyone else in our school. In Comet’s Crew, we all use our teamwork and helping hands from our resilience rucksack fantastically to support each other in our independent challenges across the curriculum areas.
We love learning in lots of different ways; in groups, partners and independently. In the mornings we enjoy daily English, Maths and Phonics in focused year 1 and Year 2 groups, then explore our foundation curriculum subjects together in the afternoon through a wide and varied mixture of activities. Our interactive plasma screen and computers help us to apply our computing throughout all areas of the curriculum and we develop our physical skills in our weekly PE sessions.
