Hello! Thank you for visiting our page. We are a Year 1 class and our class mascot is Dobby the red dragon. He lives in our classroom castle with his friends Goldie, Duke, Duncan and Toothless. Dobby and his friends inspire many of our learning challenges, that is when Dobby is not having adventures outside the classroom on his sleepovers with us!
In Dobby's Den we learn best when activities are real, relevant and fun! We enjoy hands-on, active experiences and our teachers know that learning in this way through play is exciting and engaging. Along with our computers and interactive plasma, we are lucky to have access to Mastery Areas to help us practise and 'show off' our knowledge, skills and understanding in a fun and practical way.
Our classroom is a happy, vibrant place to learn where you can always rely on your friends to help out or give you a pat on the back! We have lots of fun together and our teachers are proud of the care and kindness we show to each other and everyone else in our school. In Dobby's Den, we all use our teamwork and helping hands from our resilience rucksack fantastically to support each other in our independent challenges across the curriculum areas.
We love learning in lots of different ways; in groups, partners and independently. We enjoy daily English, Maths and Phonics and our topic work gives us a wide and varied mixture of Science, Geography, History, Design Technology and Creative Arts. Our interactive plasma screen and computers help us to apply our computing throughout all areas of the curriculum and we develop our physical skills in our weekly PE sessions, both indoor and out. The topics we learn about in Year 1 are 'The World Outside My Window', 'Castles and Crafty Creations' and 'All Creatures Great and Small'.
We love to learn with Dobby and his friends!
